Altered Book Art

Page history last edited by Sarah 15 years, 7 months ago

The Portland Public Library invited local artists to transform discarded books into works of art.  The library's "Long Overdue: Book Renewal" collection now includes nearly 200 circulating items.  Search for "altered books" in the catalog to view photos of these works.  The collection was also featured in a New York Times article in April, 2006.

For more altered book examples, visit the web pages of The International Society of Altered Book Artists.

Hmm, the site for the International Society of Altered Book Artists is down. If you'd like to see more examples of altered books, check out the creations of Ingrid Dijkers, a Michigan-based artist: http://ingriddijkers.com/alteredbookscontents.html.
